The end of summer is quickly approaching us and we are trying to make the most of it. Jacob left this afternoon to go to Broken Bow with his dad, brother and another friend of theirs for a little overnight fishing trip. So, the kids and I loaded up to head out to do something fun too. I secretly packed all of the kids swimming suits, towells and life jackets, and we headed off to my mom and dads and while I had already ran the idea by daddy, but when the kids saw his boat they began begging to go to the lake :). It didn't take too long so we got things together and headed that way.
It was the girls first time to ride in a "motor boat" and I believe they had a blast. We went to the company park where we used to spend our summers during my junior high and highschool summers. Being there brought back so many memories. I hope my children have something like that to look back at when they are older that will bring a smile their hearts too.

Family Day out!

Yesterday the 30th Jacob, the kids and I headed off to Canton. We had planned to get up and going around 7, but after Jacob hit the snooze and then turned it off, we slept in well, for a little while. We hit the road, and were on our way around 9ish. However we didn't make it far, we needed to top off the gas tank (aka fill it up) and get our chocolate milk fix and some good ole donuts and colaches(sp). When we got to Canton we dicided to walk around the trade days for a while, picked up a few goodies then headed over to Splash Kingdom for the rest of the afternoon.
While at the water park, we floated the lazy river, played in the wave pool, and after watching Colton and Jacob on the slides Claire was all over the idea of doing it too. So after much persuasion and pushing we talked Caleigh into it as well. She wasn't as fond of the idea as the other two, so she and I floated the river a little while, and played in the younger kids area of the park. We all ended up there, and then changed back into our clothes, ate dinner, and headed back to good ole Naples.
It was a great day and I think it is safe to say we all had a blast!

Can anyone say HOT! It's the end of July and in Texas that only means one thing....It's HOT!!! I should be used to it, I have lived here for 27 years, but I don't think you could ever really get used to over 100 heat index.
We haven't had the chance to do anything big and exciting, but the kids don't seem to mind. This past Wednesday, their Kma came to get them and took them on a play date with two of her dear friends Ms. Nanci and Ms. Brenda and their grandkids at Brenda's house. They swam, and swam and swam. Played, ate popcicles and had a pic nic lunch.
As much fun as they had, mama had a good day too. I had to clean for a friend of mine that morning, but afterwards I headed to MP and had the greatest pedicure! I am a sucker for a good foot massage :) I also had to do some grocery shopping and went to the dreaded walmart, but really enjoyed my "me" time and just looking around and going at my own pace.
Towards the end of the week we started decorating for VBS which starts tonight at the Naples Church of Christ at 6. I teach crafts, surprised? So we have been spending a couple of extra hours a day at the church getting my stuff together and helping out if other people needed a hand.
Saturday was a whirlwind....Jacob was ready to trade in his old lawnmower on a newer one, and has been working so many hours and extra days lately, that the kids and I were nominated to go make the deal. We were up, dressed and had driven the nearly hour drive to Texarkana by 8 a.m. When we had our turn with the sales guy, we found the lawn mower we were looking for and it was so brand new it was still in the shipping crate. So after an hour or so wait for them to finish assembly, we were on our way back to Naples for the Watermelon Festival. We missed the parade, but did do a quick walk through of the booths and such, and we were headed back home, because like I said, It's HOT!!
So, now its Sunday afternoon, and the kids are napping and I am enjoying sitting here doing NOTHING. Until time to go to VBS.

Oh, and I forgot to mention....My baby boy pulled his 2nd tooth last night....All.by.himself. :) I love watching them grow up....I wish it didn't feel as though it were in fastforward all the time.

Summer So Far.

*warning*This is long and there aren't any pictures. I hope you enjoy anyway.

It is the begining/middle of July Already? That doesn't seem possible! School has been out for a little over a month now, and I can't believe that in shortly over a month, I will have a Kindergartener. Colton attended pre-k last year at Pewitt, and I never imagined he would know some of the things he has learned in the past year. Did I mention he had perfect attendance? Since school has been out, we have been spending a lot of time here at the house. Some days, it is great, some days we just have to get out. The first couple of weeks we did just that. However the next two weeks seemed to be a whirlwind. I was asked to teach a cake decorating class for kids camp at our local community college. I had 2 classes and really enjoyed myself, but missed my relaxed at home routine and being with my kids. Most days, Colton, Caleigh and Claire went to my mom and dad's house, one day they got to stay home with their daddy, and ond day their favorite big buddy Anna came to our house to keep them.
The girls have also had quite a summer, probably better than anyone else in our house, but ofcourse we have been able to share it with them. On July 3, my babies turned 4! I can't believe it. So, for their birthday, Jacob and I and his parents went in together and bought them a swimming pool. It has been so nice to have it in our backyard and not have to get ready to go somewhere else to swim. Ofcouse it came with more work for mama, but at least I can get in it and cool off to clean. We had their birthday party here at the house and had quite the turn out if I counted everyone, and I am almost possitive I did, there were 44 ppl here. Wow. But I loved it, I think one of my favorite things as a mama is to plan a big fun Birthday party for my kids. The kids who came, got to swim, play on a slip-n-slide, and ofcourse there was cake and icecream and juice drinks. I don't have any pics :( I forgot to charge my camera, but hopefully, I will get some good ones from my sis. On the actual day of the girls birthday we took them out to eat, got their ears peirced and saw ToyStory3. What an evening.
On the Fourth of July, we started the day by going to church, then Colton and Claire went with Jacob to shoot guns and Caleigh and I stayed around here cleaning the house and doing that sort of thing, but we made it fun and right now she still likes to help. That evening Cody, Marci, and Baby Maggie came over and our friends Dusty and Gina and we grilled steaks, had a great salad and baked potatoes followed by our easy version of apple cobbler, and finished the night with fireworks. I think that is most of our summer in a nutshell, thus far. It's only half over, and I can't wait to see what else we can get into.
